The importance of measurement in manufacturing

21 Oct News
It is a self-evident fact that accurate dimensional measurement is the origin of manufacturing. By measuring with the same benchmark in a series of processes from material procurement to processing, assembly, inspection, and shipment, products that meet the design requirements can be manufactured to ensure quality.
Even if only one person is negligent in measuring, quality cannot be ensured. If defective products are mixed in due to this, not only will the yield rate decrease, but once the defective products are delivered as finished products, complaints will be generated. In other words, accurate measurements must be made by all members of the organization at all stages of manufacturing.
The basic requirement for accurate measurement is to equip the personnel involved in manufacturing with measurement-related technologies, and on this basis, to carry out proper management and use of measuring instruments. This set of mechanisms is called "measurement management" and is the basis of quality management. In recent years, measurement management has also been standardized and a measurement management system (ISO10012) has been established. To ensure accurate measurement, initiatives to ensure the traceability of metrology are also being promoted.
